Custom Pricing: What Do You Actually Get for the Price of Custom Stationery?

When it comes to wedding stationery, there is a massive difference between mass-produced options and custom designs. If you’ve been browsing sites like Minted, Zazzle or Etsy, you might be wondering why custom wedding stationery tends to be more expensive. The answer lies in what you’re actually paying for - the design element, expertise and the personalized touches that we can add to any wedding stationery!

Paying for the design

The majority of your budget for custom wedding stationery goes towards the actual design. It’s not just about pretty pictures and fancy fonts! It’s about the artists ability to take your words and visions (sometimes even a LACK of direction!) and turn them into something uniquely beautiful.

Consider this save-the-date I recently designed. The couple had moved to New York together and loved everything about their new home state! I was able to incorporate the New York state bird, the Eastern Bluebird, into their stationery design.

The Artist’s Expertise

Creating custom wedding stationery isn’t just about creativity, it’s also about expertise. Us artists often use a blend of mediums and techniques to bring your vision to life! I personally combine graphic design, iPad illustrations, calligraphy, watercolor, colored pencils and acrylics into my work. Watercolor, for example, might require scanning artwork, digitizing it, refining it on an iPad, and then re-digitizing it for print.

We also have a knowledge of programs such as Illustrator and Photoshop. Knowing how to manipulate various mediums are all crucial skills that take years to develop! The expertise that I have allows me to solve problems efficiently and execute your vision to a T.
